Forthcoming small overview exhibition of my work, tracing my fascination with rocks and trees at gallery Artline in Delft from the 27th of November until the 16th of January. It includes this pink granite quarry on the Isle of Mull. I spent several years returning to the island.
It will include a Turner’s Oak drawing. Before working in Leiden I worked unofficially in the Hortus Amsterdam as part of the research into my Xylotheque Unpacked series. I got to know many of the trees personally. Turner’s Oak was a hybrid created by a Mr. Turner in Essex in the 18th century. This particular example is one of the oldest in the botanic gardens.
This exhibition is my opportunity to show my roots. It has been extraordinary to dive into my archives to show early and present work.
