“The sea is breathing”-Rainer Maria Rilke, following the line of the tide as it comes in over my paper, creating drawings made every five minutes for five minutes. This project encapsulates the tidal movement, the lyrical pattern of passing waves. At the same time it is a commentary on rising sea levels. All the drawings are made in locations under threat of potential flooding: Zuiderstrand The Hague; Rockanje, Zealand, the Netherlands; Oostende, Belgium; the Île de Ré on the French Atlantic Coast.
